I gave in and had myself weighed the other night. Everywhere you go, there are kids with scales and for 50 riyals, you can get weighed. According to his scale, I now weigh 197 pounds! If his scale is accurate that means I’ve lost about 30 pounds in a year and 5 months. I’ve actually put on some weight in the last several months, but I’m pretty happy. According to some charts I’ve seen, my “ideal” weight would be around 175. I think that’s a bit low for me. I’m thinking that if I have some muscle tone (we’re not talking Charles Atlas or anything), I’d be good at 185. If I revert to my usual lack of muscle tone, 175 might be about right. I knew I had lost some weight, all of my clothes are way too big for me, my shirts hang off of me and my pants really need to be cinched in order for them to stay up. New clothes will have to wait, I’m trying to stretch my budget… We’ll see if I can continue to drop pounds, I have a feeling I’ve plateaued (a negative plateau?) again. It might take another “shock” to break through and get lower, we’ll see.
